A bold central medallion, highlighted by a deep indigo background, anchors a gorgeous earthy brick-red field strewn with lovely "naive" drawings of stems, leaves and flowers. A stepped outline of the red field gives way to matching bright ivory spandrels and indigo small segments mirroring the central medallion in the four corners. The rug is framed by a beautiful border of primitive design. A stunning, century and a half old piece, distinguished among Serapi rugs.
