This rug is distinguished by its beautiful design and nuanced colors that only time can fashion. Although the harmony of colors and design reveal the hand of a master, the carpet retains a personal charm and individual character, disclosed for instance by the asymmetry of the medallion and improvised "naive" motifs.
A delightful salmon-red central medallion, with a gleaming ivory outer contour populated with lovely flowers followed by a blue lobed layer, anchors a brick-red field with gorgeous abrash. The field is garnered by ivory tendrils heavy with colorful blossoms and rare forest- and apple-green leaves, and ends with quarter medallions at the four corners reflecting the medallion at the center. The main border balances the design in the field with a steady parade of large palmettes linked by burgeoning stems echoing those in the field over a deep ink-blue background.
