Eight large octagonal guls in beautiful colors including a lovely turquoise, separated by star-like shapes along the central axis, line up a brick-red field, with an ivory border displaying geometric motifs flanked by barber-pole guards.

The attribution of this rare rug as Quchan Kurdish was not obvious as it has features found in Azerbaijani and Eastern Persian Kurdish rugs. But the type of guls and the structure of the rug tilted the balance to  Eastern Kurdish.
